there has been more coverage about lindsey blowhan and britney skank, the idiot helicopter pilots in arizona that crashed and burned… (note that they are also going to try to pin those deaths on the guy that caused the high speed chase … what???? ) than about the 23 koreans taken hostage that were there to volunteer medical aid… not to proselytize

arthostagesgroupap.jpg

yeah.. there are now 2 dead korean men that were kidnapped in afghanistan.. and also 5 more men and 16 women… way to go taliban… what ever happened to not harming women, children, elderly… i bet you thought you were 16 virgins closer to heaven now huh.. taliban man… and i guess the whole concept of keeping your timetable for killing hostages needs a little tweaking… come on.. we are going on 2 weeks now.

yeah… me no love taliban long time

also.. taking koreans hostage is real good leverage as it just focuses the rest of the world and non extremists against you… how is

maybe the lack of coverage is cause of the virginia tech shooter… (also south korean) and americans are chink’d out for the year.

there is a call to prayer… for the safe return of the missionaries that went on a humanitarian effort… to help the people of afganistan.. be the body of christ by leaving the comforts of home and going to a country where they did not know the language or fit in society as a majority were women.

maybe they were stupid for going cause they should have known better. maybe they should have expected that showing the love of christ in a culture that has lived in the muslim faith caused tension and they should have been more sensitive to the response they were going to get… wait…. when they go on these trips.. most understand that they are not going to be allowed into the country to preach or to share the gospel… but they still go… because they care about the people on a human level.. not a theological level.

this call to prayer goes to the body of christ… it is not a call for ‘your thoughts are with them’ or ‘things will work out in the end’ ‘i will pray for them — but not’ ‘i will keep them in my thoughts’ or those that do not understand the concept of all things working out for the greater good … cause they usually leave out the ‘for those that love the lord’

unless you are expecting a miracle… don’t pray.
unless you believe that what you are asking for will come true.. don’t pray
unless you are right with those around you (like you are worthy of taking communion)… don’t pray
if you are just praying for the sake of praying… don’t pray

don’t just pray because they are being held captive.. they need and needed prayer for the work they were doing…leaving behind good paying jobs and studies to help in feeding, teaching, providing medical aid, spending time with the afghanis

some are going to say that they were trying to push religion or korean brand of christianity on the afghans… but that was not their purpose for going

i am expecting that there are going to be more deaths before this is resolved… (i don’t think korean prayer is more better than american or germans…as some koreans seem to think… who have had their people taken and killed too)

this situation just sucks… nothing we can do but pray .. hope they send in some tae kwon do ninja delta force or something to save them.. and release videos of themselves beheading the taliban… or set the stage for more and more hostages if you start to cave to their demands….

well at least karzi has asked that the women be released…

keep updated on the situation over at beauty and depravity an excellent blog by pastor eugene cho

heard this while driving home from work.. and pulled it up again to read again..

this puts to light why the actions of our congress and senate… with their stupid non-binding resolutions hurt our troops

like i wrote before… time to take the fight to the bad guys… let the ttroops do what they have to.. to stay alive and to win this fight

Things that I am tired of in this war:

I am tired of Democrats saying they are patriotic and then insulting my commander in chief and the way he goes about his job.

I am tired of Democrats who tell me they support me, the soldier on the ground, and then tell me the best plan to win this war is with a “phased redeployment” (liberal-speak for retreat) out of the combat zone to someplace like Okinawa.

I am tired of the Democrats whining for months on T.V., in the New York Times, and in the House and Senate that we need more troops to win the war in Iraq, and then when my Commander in Chief plans to do just that, they say that is the wrong plan, it won’t work, and we need a “new direction.”

I am tired of every Battalion Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major I see over here being more concerned about whether or not I am wearing my uniform in the “spot on,” most garrison-like manner; instead of asking me whether or not I am getting the equipment I need to win the fight, the support I need from my chain of command, or if the chow tastes good.

I am tired of junior and senior officers continually doubting the technical expertise of junior enlisted soldiers who are trained far better to do the jobs they are trained for than these officers believe.

I am tired of senior officers and commanders who fight this war with more of an eye on the media than on the enemy, who desperately needs killing.

I am tired of the decisions of Sergeants and Privates made in the heat of battle being scrutinized by lawyers who were not there and will never really know the state of mind of the young soldiers who were there and what is asked of them in order to survive.

I am tired of CNN claiming that they are showing “news,” with videotape sent to them by terrorists, of my comrades being shot at by snipers, but refusing to show what happens when we build a school, pave a road, hand out food and water to children, or open a water treatment plant.

I am tired of following the enemy with drones that have cameras, and then dropping bombs that sometimes kill civilians; because we could do a better job of killing the right people by sending a man with a high powered rifle instead.

I am tired of the thousands of people in the rear who claim that they are working hard to support me when I see them with their mochas and their PX Bags walking down the street, in the middle of the day, nowhere near their workspaces.

I am tired of Code Pink, Daily Kos, Al-Jazzera, CNN, Reuters, the Associated Press, ABC, NBC, CBS, the ACLU, and CAIR thinking that they somehow get to have a vote in how we blast, shoot and kill these animals who would seek to subdue us and destroy us.

I am tired of people like Meredith Vieria from NBC asking oxygen thieves like Senator Chuck Hagel questions like “Senator, at this point, do you think we are fighting and dying for nothing?” Meredith might not get it, but soldiers do know the difference between fighting and dying for something and fighting and dying for nothing.

I am tired of hearing multiple stories from both combat theaters about snipers begging to do their jobs while commanders worry about how the media might portray the possible casualties and what might happen to their career.

I am tired of hearing that the Battalion Tactical Operations Center got a new plasma screen monitor for daily briefings, but rifle scope rings for sniper rifles, extra magazines, and necessary field gear were disapproved by the unit supply system.

I am tired of out of touch general officers, senators, congressmen and defense officials who think that giving me some more heavy body armor to wear is helping me stay alive. Speed is life in combat and wearing 55 to 90 pounds of gear for 12 to 20 hours a day puts me at a great tactical disadvantage to the idiot, mindless terrorist who is wearing no armor at all and carrying an AK-47 and a pistol.

I am tired of soldiers who are stationed in places like Kuwait and who are well away from any actual combat getting Hostile Fire/Imminent Danger Pay and the Combat Zone Tax Exclusion when they live on a base that has a McDonald’s, a Pizza Hut, a Subway, a Baskin Robbins, an internet café, 2 coffee shops and street lights.

I am tired of senior officers and commanders who take it out and “measure” every time they want to have a piece of the action with their helicopters or their artillery; instead of putting their egos aside and using their equipment to support the grunt on the ground.

I am tired of senior officers and commanders who are too afraid for their careers to tell the truth about what they need to win this war to their bosses so that the soldiers can get on with kicking the ass of these animals.

I am tired of Rules of Engagement being made by JAG lawyers and not Combat Commanders. We are not playing Hopscotch over here. There is no 2nd place trophy either. I think that if the enemy knew some rough treatment and some deprivation was at hand for them, instead of prayer rugs, special diets and free Korans; this might help get their terrorist minds “right.”

I am tired of seeing Active Duty Army and Marine units being extended past their original redeployment dates, when there are National Guard Units that have yet to deploy to a combat zone in the last 40 years.

I am tired of hearing soldiers who are stationed in safe places talk about how hard their life is.

I am tired of seeing Infantry Soldiers conducting what amounts to “SWAT” raids and performing the US Army’s version of “CSI Iraq” and doing things like filling out forms for evidence when they could be better used to hunt and kill the enemy.

I am tired of senior officers and commanders who look first in their planning for how many casualties we might take, instead of how many enemy casualties we might inflict.

I am tired of begging to be turned loose so that this war can be over.

Those of us who fight this war want to win it and go home to their families. Prolonging it with attempts to do things like collect “evidence” or present whiz bang briefings on a new plasma screen TV is wasteful and ultimately, dulls the edge of our Infantry soldiers who are trained to kill people and break things, not necessarily in that order.

We are not in Iraq and Afghanistan to build nations. We are there to kill our enemies. We make the work of the State Department easier by the results we achieve.

It is only possible to defeat an enemy who kills indiscriminately by utterly destroying him. He cannot be made to yield or surrender. He will fight to the death by the hundreds to kill only one or two of us.

And so far, all of our “games” have been “away games,” and I don’t know about the ignorant, treasonous Democrats and the completely insane radical leftists and their thoughts on the matter, but I would like to keep our road game schedule.

So let’s get it done. Until the fight is won and there is no more fight left.

oorah!

no.. that is not my engrish …. as there are some that are royally opposed to this administration.. and specifically to president bush

as i am watching/listening to the state of the union … with the clap fest that begins with all of those in both parties waiting in the aisle that the president is going to walk through.. even if they hate him.. they want some face time on national tv…

there are a lot of us that are loyal to the united states.. but growing opposed to how the administration has executed the fight over in iraq.

the words. the lack of getting insight and ideas from outside… all are frustrating.

this was probably the best line in the whole speech… again a few years too late.

This is not the fight we entered in Iraq, but it is the fight we’re in. Every one of us wishes this war were over and won. Yet it would not be like us to leave our promises unkept, our friends abandoned, and our own security at risk. Ladies and gentlemen: On this day, at this hour, it is still within our power to shape the outcome of this battle. Let us find our resolve, and turn events toward victory. ( read the whole thing here )

although the speech as decent.. delivery was spotty at times which is paar for course for president bush…. kind of that.. dog with tail between the legs attitude. he was sheepish.. looked tired. but he should be heartened that the speech was good… and most of what was said was fair

policy wise… hate the immigration amnesty plan.. the insurance tax savings seems interesting… i loved the call out of the earmarks and fiscal irresponsibility that the congress has shown over the past few years…

i love the shout out to all the north koreans on the peninsula (love his struggle with the pronunciation) but i want nukes… so we can blow kim jong il away..

a lot of the speech should have been passed along before the elections…

i hate that people consider reintroducing 21,500 troops back into baghdad is some major undertaking… if they needed to.. they could mobilize the entire armed forces and have over 500,000 troops in play if they wanted. the troop level is the same as it was a few months ago… but this time.. there are new rules… we have gotten better at the door to door.. house to house search and destroy missions that this battle has turned into…

i just really hate the clap fest. and the akward introductions of people like mutumbo ? that was just weird. and the ny subway hero guy…

it is nice that the democrats held to some semblance of decorum and applauded the president.. but they panned to the presidential hopefuls a bit too much.. joe biden looked like he was sleeping. hillary with her smirk.. during the insurance policy statement… priceless. hillarycare is gonna be so sweet.

i will have to read the democratic response…

lets see if the presidents gets a it more time to let the plan work… or show signs of improving the situation in iraq

ok.. so the new premieres of shows are in full force and i have waited a few days to let the 4 hr start to the ’24’ season thread…

spoiler alert (highlight between the colons) ::: the neighborhood terrorist and jailbreak nuke scientist detonated a nuke on the show… and that means jack is back for 4 more nukes. jack kills curtis to save of all people a terrorist… the irony… the moral dillema.. the acid burned hand as he cries in agony… ugggg ::::

so.. the muslims must be very happy about this. the show basically jumped the shark .. season 3-5 were good… and now.. they have no more storyline…

there is very little on tv that is worth watching anymore… and when shows like this flame out.. it is sad.

i have fallen back to watching reruns of ‘dead like me’ and ‘battlestar galactica’ cause the writing is good… the acting is good.. i am glad ‘boston legal’ is on again.. cause the ‘american idol’ stupid no talent search is on again… and i had to grin and bear it as my wife watched… i should have just napped to prepare for my 2am run to the datacenter… maybe i would have had less of a headache.

what next… the asians by proxy of china launch a nano robot attack and jack has to be resurrected in the future to defeat them…

listened to the president talk about the new strategy .. that people that have some common sense would have said … and agreed with .. 2 years ago.  deploying 20,000  troops (5 brigades) to quell the violence in bahgdad

i know pres bush is running with the ideology that what he is doing is right.. and that current setbacks and perceived errors in judgement will be softened by history.  that all of the things that have been implemented .. in their haste… may look like mistakes… but the intention was there to do right by the country post 9/11 .. execution was the issue.

he basically bet his legacy and presidency on the war ..

lots of people are frustrated with how the president has handled things from katrina to mission accomplished … and a lot of people have flipped sides for at least this round of elections to show and punish the president for all of the failures and issues under his command.

i personally think that george bush is a decent guy… trying the best he can… and if you think about it… how would you react and carry yourself in his shoes… being blasted from the very first day with calls that he had not won the popular vote.. 9/11 … the second election cycle… katrina… people blasting how you talk.. all the bushisms… will farrell making fun of you.  that other guy on sln making fun of you… the daily show making fun of you… even the best and strongest of people would have cracked at some point…

as a person that on a good day would align with conservatives more as a values voter… i am shocked and disappointed with the lack of true conservatism shown by the president.  fiscal responsibility, border, immigration,  lack of reagan-esque speaking skills…  i wish he would give .. had given  more speeches like tonight… like the speech a few days after 9/11 when we saw him as a person.. not a dick cheney / karl rove puppet caricature …

although late… i hope the loosening of the reigns on our troops… the best in the world.. will do what they were training to do.. go and kill the bad guys.

finally!!!

i know it i just to blow up some al qaida terrorists…. with all the talk about new iraqi policy… the us showed some determination .. and actually acting on actionable intelligence on where some of these terrorists were.. and sending an ac-130 spectre … a mo betta c-130 hercules and making things go boom…

i hope that this is a sign that the us is going to start doing something to end the genocide in darfur

the coolest part of the c-130 is the flare system… with the whirlwiind from the props… it makes a cool image … tell me that is not cool…

c-130flares-1.jpg

there is news in a british fishwrap… that israel has secret plans to attack nuclear plants and other locations in iran with tactical nukes and other low-yield nuclear bunker buster bombs… uness i am in the israeli defence force (idf) or have some secret asian man clearance… um.. it is not secret anymore. and if this is not a plan.. then it gives tehran all of the extra propaganda that they want.. talking about some zionist plots to kill all muslims. this from a country that has said that sanctions will not work (hint hint .. un = worth nothing) and they are going to continue their nuclear program even when the rest of the world agreed that they needed to stop… hhmmm….. sound familiar to another country that has a name with only one letter different?

why is it that journalists today are all about the scoop.. and not about protecting their country… lettings ltimes along .. at least the fighting is done. at least until the war is over.. then publish all you want… back-bite, uncover, whatever.. but when you interfer with the wa effort, give material aid to the enemy.. then you are no better than hanoi jane… (see how jane fonda still has not lived that title down…) and at worse a traitor. common sense.. we are in a war. someone leaks information on an attack or target (first act of treason) … the reporter mulls over a pulitzer or lives .. real lives that are going to be jeopardized if the plan is let known.. and the report opts to write the story… give it to the editor and they decide to print (second act of treason… it is not about freedom of the press or first amendment… just like yelling fire in a theater is not protected.. just like inciting a riot is not protected) … you think that the 40s era press could have gotten away with releasing information about the a-bomb that ws gonna be dropped on japan… not once.. but twice. you think that those that were involved would have been lauded or bent over with a treason charge and in prision and hung?

an example is abu grabe … the stuff that was happening was gross. but by leaking to the press.. instead of letting the military courts deal with the problem .. in a time of war.. they gave fodder to the enemy that claimed torture.. and used it as recruiting material. even if you disagree with the war.. you have to see that… if you are helping provide information that is helping the enemy.. you put more lives at risk and protract the conflict… think about the 2 years since that information cam out.. once the conflict was over.. or at least not during still active fighting.. you saw that the milittary did not charge and put the lindy englands into military prison… _then_ you approach the department of defense.. then if they fail to take action.. then release the information to the public… i am not saying cover it up… but more tactfulness in handling the situation.

what happened to the concept of the greater good. what happened to self preservation
a lot of tabloid runs like this. covers splashed with… lindsey lohan goes to AA meeting! .. well.. think about what you just wrote… somebody… went to an alcoholics anonymous meeting… uhhh.. just by printing that.. you destroyed the concept of the anonymity of that person and they medical privacy.. all these people that claim to be about personal freedoms.. violate and sometimes jeopardize the medical health of people that may have been trying to go get help.. but then due to the press leaks and public displays of their attempts to go to a meeting that could save their life.. they stop going…

like my last post.. we have lost a lot of the common sense that would have been here if we had some people that had some backbone and would call out people that are hurting our country.. calling out people that hurt other countries..

[comment added — note that this is not shilling for israel… but i would support anyone taking out irans nuclear capabilities… in a strategic attack… cause even the bogus threat seems to have caused the world to take notice..]

to do or to be … evil

that is another bonhoefferism…

‘it is better to do evil than to be evil’

this was his conflict when he became a double agent.. and to a certain degree a co-conspirator in the assassination attempts on hitler. he would be involved in a murder.. but killing of a murderer…

this simple statement carries with it so many implication in life and how you live your life as a persone of faith. capital punishment, war, self defense, justifiable homicide… and so on.

and maybe some understanding of the other side of this war as well… as they see us as evil.. and they will do some evil to protect themselves and what they believe

as we come up on a new year… resolve to do some evil .. cause you know you will.. but to not be evil.

the wicked tyrant of the middle-east is dead… hung. done.

they moved a lot faster than i thought they would…

i just wonder if some will see him as a martyr of the evil george bush… some have already started saying it was an assasination of the leader of iraq… and not punishment for the butcher of iraq handed down and carried out by iraqis.

or as the dictator that tried to assassinate the evil younger bush’s dad… gave $25,000 to families of suicide bombers that killed israelis. someone that used chemical weapons on his own countrymen… and killed and really tortured anyone that opposed him.

think saddam had no links to terror? read here

in light of some more whining i am hearing from people about how long we have been in iraq… are you ready to do what it takes to win? really.. what are you willing to do?

will you drop the bomb? 2 for that matter? cause that is how world war 2 ended…

how about relaxing what our troop can do… before they can shoot back.. they have to go through some ridiculous rules or wait to be shot at directly…. it should be like gladiator.. on my word… unleash hell.

the us troops are fighting this war using the rules of war and trying their hardest not to offend anybody there… avoid certain buildings, not able to track terrorists in plain clothes… remember the viet cong and how they would wear plain civilian clothes and then attack?

if you want out so bad… are you ready to drop bombs? not even just the a-bomb but the more devistating h-bomb.. ready to blow up a mosque if you know that only terrorists are in there. shoot plain clothed civilian looking terrorists … oh yeah.. quit calling them insurgents. t. e. r. r. o. r. i. s. t. got it?

if they are not fighting by the rules.. by hiding behind civilians and using ieds … then nuke them… that way we can bring our guys home.. and that is that.

you think iran or syria will continue to be punk asses if we unleashed hell on them. you think they would act the way they are if we did…

we don’t need more troops.. we just need to let the troops there fight… it is like immigration law.. we don’t need more.. just enforce what is already in the books.

i think the rules of engagement have been met… fire away.
